Boise's Gem — Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

When you visit the website

• We count visits with a cookie-free analytics tool (pages viewed, how visitors found the site, country, device type, page speed). It does not identify you and does not use cookies.
• To stop spam, the request form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-friendly check that does not use cookies to track you.

When you ask about dates, request to book, or book

• Your name, email address, phone number and any other contact details you give us. We may check your phone number by texting it a one-time code.
• Your dates, number of guests, and anything you write in your request or emails.
• If you booked with us before, your past stays with us.

When you pay

• Payments are handled by our payment processors. We never see or store your full card or bank details. We receive the payer's name, the amount, and whether the payment went through.

When an identity check is needed

• For some bookings we ask the person booking to verify their ID through an identity-verification provider. The provider handles your ID document and photo. We receive only the result and the verified name.

When you sign the rental agreement

• Your typed name, the date and time you signed, your internet (IP) address and browser type, and the version of the agreement you signed. We keep this as proof of the agreement.

When you sign in to your reservation page

• Your email address, used to send you a one-time sign-in code. A small sign-in cookie keeps you signed in. When you leave to pay, a second small cookie lasting 6 hours brings you back to your reservation page. The website uses no other cookies and no tracking cookies.

Exterior security cameras

• Audio/video cameras are on the outside of the home: one at the front door and two on the north side (back of the home). There are no cameras inside the home or on the east or west sides of the exterior.
• Recordings are deleted automatically after 30 days. If something happens that needs to be documented (for example damage or a safety incident), we may save specific clips for up to 1 year.

2. How we use it

• To answer questions, handle requests and bookings, and send booking emails (confirmations, payment reminders, receipts, check-in details).
• To take payments and issue refunds.
• To prepare and keep your rental agreement.
• To keep the home, our guests and our neighbors safe.
• To meet our tax and legal duties, such as Idaho lodging-tax records.
• To send you occasional offers only if you ticked the box asking for them. Every offer email has a one-click unsubscribe.

3. Who we share it with

We never sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising. We share it only:

• With service providers who help us run the website and your stay: website hosting, payment processing, identity verification, phone-number verification (a one-time text code), email delivery, and our own email and calendar apps. They may use it only to provide their service to us.
• With our housekeeper: only the dates of check-ins and check-outs — no names or contact details.
• With other booking channels where the home is listed: only the dates that are booked, so the home is not double-booked — never your name or details.
• When the law requires it, or to protect our rights, guests or property (for example tax authorities, an insurance claim, or a valid legal request).

4. Do Not Track

We do not track you across other websites, and our analytics do not identify you, so browser "Do Not Track" signals do not change how the website works.

5. How long we keep it

• Booking, payment, rental-agreement and ID-check-result records: 7 years after your stay, then deleted.
• Requests that never became a booking: 1 year, then deleted.
• Camera recordings: 30 days, or up to 1 year for a clip we saved because of an incident.
• Offer emails: until you unsubscribe.

6. Your choices

Any guest may email boisesgem@gmail.com to:

• see the information we hold about you,
• correct anything that is wrong,
• ask us to delete it — except records we must keep for tax or legal reasons,
• stop offer emails (or use the unsubscribe link).

We reply within 30 days.

7. Security

We use reasonable safeguards: payments and ID checks are handled by specialist providers, the website uses encrypted connections, and only the owner can see reservation details. If a security breach ever exposed your personal information, we would tell you as Idaho law requires.

8. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we update the "Last updated" date at the top. If a change is important, we also email guests who have an upcoming stay.
